Santa Rita farm, located in the municipality of Botelhos - Volcanic Region of Poços de Caldas, was acquired in the early 1970s by Mr. José Cesário Vilela de Carvalho.

Its coffee production began in 1979, in the following varieties Catuaí and Mundo Novo. Currently the property is operated under the agricultural partnership model, managed by the family of Gilberto Batista de Azevedo for 15 years. The family consists of nine people including his wife and two children.

The property currently has a cultivated area of 25 hectares with 60 thousand coffee trees, producing an average of 500 bags of coffee per year.

“We are currently moving through a process of change in the management of cultural practices. We are already in a transition to regenerative coffee farming with a vision seeking more sustainable means, better interaction with the environment and seeking better financial remuneration with fewer negative impacts on the planet and future generations.” - said Gilberto.

This work is being motivated by some factors: the property has been Fair Trade certified since 2012 and now has partnered with Volcano Origin Coffees to get space in some of the best roasters and coffee shops in the world.
